The longer I am here at Carolina, the faster the days and weeks are go by! Our registration site, http://www.gophimufacebook.com/ opened on Monday, August 24th. We already have an awesome interest group, and lots of young women signed up... so exciting!!
On Monday, Christa and I attended Sigma Chi Chapter meeting-- it was an expierience to say the least, and SO MUCH FUN! The guys really listened to what we had to say, and we left very, very, encouraged!!! (I also learned that fraternity boys @ Carolina wear really short khaki shorts! eh..) Oh! And they snapped after almost everything we said, totally caught us off guard!
Tuesday we went out with Erica, our chapter adviser. She is basically awesome in a nutshell. We ate at Liberty Tavern? I think...- anyway, it was a really cool place. After dinner we went to this AMAZING... and when I say amazing, I mean A-M-A-Z-I-N-G roof top bar. Ohhhhh my goodness. The view... was SPECTACULAR! You could see all of downtown Columbia, I felt like I was on top of the Empire State Building. We are definitely going back there........ every week!!
Besides all the fun we are having, we have also been working our little tails off planning, planning, planning! We have continued to meet with Sorority and Fraternity Presidents, as well as other Greek Life officials, and Student Body President. We've prepped for most of our first informal meetings and 1st colony meeting after Extension, and still looking into Social events, Homecoming, and so much more.
On Friday we met with Mr. Seawells himself to help us plan our Parent's Cocktail. This place is realllllllly nice, and it includes EVERYTHING! Not a lot of work on mine and Christa's part, which will be GREAT since we are having back to back social events that week. It is right near the Stadium, and we are hoping to have a nice sit down dinner. We'll see how it all pans out, we are waiting for price quotes for 450 people........ Yikes!
We were busy, busy, busy, on Friday. That night we went to Lexington, SC- which is supposed to be 15 minutes away--- but since we got VERY lost, it took us an hour to get there. We went to this bar & grill to hear a band play that I had contacted earlier in the week- to see if they would play at our 1st Date Party. More details to come on the band later.... they were an interesting bunch!!
Yesterday, Saturday- we took a small roadtrip to Charleston to check out a possible facility for our Sisterhood Retreat. We are having such a hard time finding a place to accommodate 200+ girls.... AND that aren't already booked! We also took a mini pit-stop to Sullivan's Island to check out the beach........ ah. So pretty- and so relaxing.
What a week.................. Can't believe it's almost September. Where did summer go?!?!
